Common mistakes during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijja

Common mistakes during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijja

Common mistakes during Hajj

The first ten days of Dhul-Hijja are the days of blessings and mercy. From their very beginning, we should increase our worship and do our best to get closer to the Almighty. However, it is paramount to avoid falling in the following common mistakes during these days.

Not to pay attention to the importance and blessings of these days and let them pass as any casual days. Muslims should know that there are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.

1 – To be indifferent and not to praise, pray and supplicate. Many people fall in this mistake and they do not increase their supplications, Tasbeeh, and Dhikr as well as night prayers. However, from the very beginning of these days, Muslims should increase their Du’aa and prayers for the Almighty says ( and mention the Name of Allah on appointed days (i.e. 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th day of Dhul-Hijjah),” (‘Al-Hajj: 28).

Women should avoid Takbeer loudly for it has not been reported that the mothers of the previous believers used to do so. Their voice must be unheard and we should avoid falling in such a mistake.

2 – New manners to say Tkbeer have been introduced as false innovations, one has to avoid saying Takbeer as instructed by these formulae. There is only one manner to say Takbeer that is:

” Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, la ilaha illa Allah wallahu akbar ,walillah alhamd “.

Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the greatest and to Allah is all praise.

fasting the days of Tachrik, and this is undesirable as it has been reported that the Prophet ( peace and blessings of Allah be upon him ) said that these days are the Muslims Eid, thus we should eat and drink during them.

3 – fasting a day or two or three days before paying a penalty of the days that we did not fast during Ramadan.  We should pay the penalty and fast the days we missed in Ramadan before fasting during these days.

Seeking Allah’s blessings in Ramadan

PRAISE and thanks to Allah who has made us reach the blessed month of Ramadan yet again this year. He made it a month of mercy, forgiveness, du’a and multiplied rewards.

Every night of this blessed month, He invites the fortunate ones who witness it, to race and compete with each other in doing righteous deeds. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said “On the first night of the month of Ramadan, the devils are chained, the jinn are restrained, and the gates of Hellfire are closed and none of its gates are opened. The gates of Paradise are opened and none of its gates are closed. A caller announces: ‘O seeker of good, come near! O seeker of evil, stop short! Allah will save them from the Hellfire and that is during every night of Ramadan’.” (At-Tirmidhi, 682)

Ramadan is a golden opportunity for all of us who hope to be saved from the Hellfire and yearn to dwell in Paradise. This is not a month of socializing and feasting even though it is common to see this around us. This is a month of competing with each other in improving our relationship with our Creator, a month where we ignore all distractions and race to Him by doing lots of good deeds. Allah says, “And vie one with another for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a Paradise as wide as are the heavens and the earth, prepared for those who ward off (evil).” (Qur’an, 3:133)

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “There has come to you the month of Ramadan, a month of blessing, in which Allah covers you with grace, sending down mercy, forgiving sins and answering supplication. Allah looks at your competition in doing good there in and boasts of you before His angels. So show Allah goodness from yourselves, for truly the wretched person is the one who is deprived of the Mercy of Allah during this month.” (At Tabarani)

The Messenger (peace be upon him) and his companions would pray, fast, spend time with the Qur’an and be obedient to Allah all year round but in Ramadan, they would maximize their efforts to excel in various good deeds. Nothing can be better for us than following their footsteps in this world and then being rewarded by having their company in the Hereafter. The Messenger (peace be upon him) mentioned many actions which, if performed sincerely, grant us great rewards.

The best of such actions in Ramadan is fasting, which has been made obligatory by the Almighty. The exact reward for fasting has not been specified but it is expected to be tremendous because of the way this hadith describes it: “Every deed of the son of Adam will be multiplied between ten and seven hundred times. Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, said: Except fasting. It is for Me and I shall reward for it. He gives up his desires and his food for My sake.” (Muslim, 1151)

We need to perfect our fast by not just avoiding food and drink but also false and hateful speech and deeds so the rewards can be maximized. According to another Hadith, there is a gate to Paradise that is called Ar-Rayyan. On the Day of Resurrection, it will say: ‘Where are those who fasted?’ When the last (one who fasted) has passed through the gate, it will be locked. (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

The blessed month of Ramadan is a celebration of the Qur’an as the blessed Book was revealed in it. Striving hard to spend the month in reading, reciting and listening to the Qur’an carries huge rewards. Regarding reciting it, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah, he will have a reward, and this reward will be multiplied by 10. I am not saying that ‘Alif, Laam, Meem’ is a letter, rather I am saying that ‘Alif’ is a letter, ‘Laam’ is a letter and ‘Meem’ is a letter.” (Tirmidhi, 2910)

For those who listen to the Qur’an attentively, it was said that mercy does not come quickly to anyone than the one who listens to the Qur’an according to the words of Allah: “So when the Qur’an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy.” (Qur’an, 7:204) The words “you may” make it mandatory for Allah! (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi)

There is a narration by Ibn Abbas that emphasizes the need to be generous in giving all kinds of charity in Ramadan: “Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) was the most generous of people and he was the most generous in the month of Ramadan when Jibreel would meet him. Jibreel used to meet him every night of Ramadan to teach him the Qur’an.” (Bukhari, 1716, Muslim, 4268)

Speaking of charity, you can also easily get the reward of fasting not just 30 days in the blessed month, but 60, 90 and so on! The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever gives a fasting person (food or drink to break their fast), they will have similar to the reward of the one who fasted, without any decrease for the one who fasted.” (At-Tirmidhi, authenticated by Al-Albani) Buy some dates and hand them over at a masjid, for the worshippers at the time of breaking the fast or hand over bottles of cold water and small packets of dates on the roadsides at the time of Maghrib. If you are unable to do any of that, then just helping out in the kitchen and setting up Iftar with dates and cold water for your family will bring a similar reward, Insha Allah.

Making extra voluntary prayer along with the 5 obligatory ones is another way to race to Paradise according to the narration of Rabi’a bin Kaab who said: “I was with Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) one night and I brought him water and what he required. He said to me: ‘Ask (for anything you like)’. I said: I ask for your company in Paradise. He (peace be upon him) said: ‘Or anything else other than it?’ I said: That is all (what I require). He said: ‘Then help me to achieve this for you by devoting yourself to frequent sujood (prostrations)’.” (Muslim)

According to a Hadith, performing an Umrah in Ramadan is like accompanying the Prophet (peace be upon him) on Haj. (Bukhari) But as for those who live far away from the blessed land of Makkah and feel sad for not being able to perform Umrah in this blessed month, they can still get the rewards of Haj and Umrah.

“Race to (all that is) good,” says Allah in the Qur’an (2:148) and one can think of no better time to do this except in the blessed season that we find ourselves in.

According to a Hadith, whoever prays Fajr prayer in congregation, and then sits and remembers Allah until the sun rises, and then prays 2 units of voluntary prayer (Al-Ishraq), he will gain a reward equal to that of performing a perfect, perfect, perfect Haj and Umrah. (Al-Albani, Saheeh Al-Jaami-6346)

Ramadan blessings

Ramadan blessings

The word Ramadan comes from the Arabic root ramida or ar-ramad, which means scorching heat or dryness, Ramzan is the holly month and it is ninth month according to the Islamic calendar,it is a month of fasting for muslimes all over the world, The month lasts 29–30 days based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon after moon sighted muslimes celebrate Eid ul Fitar.

The Purposes of the Sharia in Hajj

Allah Almighty did not create us in vain and will not neglect us. Rather, He created us to inhabit the earth and achieve succession on it. This, however, will not be realized unless we become the best ummah (nation) brought to mankind, and this necessitates purifying the self, which is a persistent enjoiner of evil. The only means to purify the self is to apply the teachings of Islam, fulfill its pillars as we learnt them from the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) and be keen to dedicate all our righteous deeds solely for the sake of Allah. Allah Almighty says (what means): {Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows that which you do.} [Quran 29: 45]
In a hadith, the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “Whose prayer does not forbid him from doing immorality and evil, he gets nothing but going further from Allah.” Regarding the pillar of fasting, the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “How many people are fasting and receive no reward but the suffering of hunger and thirst.”
This means that fasting and prayer do not benefit the servant when he goes to extremes in committing immorality and harming Muslims. When the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) was asked about a woman who used to intensively fast and pray but used to harm her neighbors, he judged her to be among the dwellers of Hell.
There are neither sexual relations nor disobedience:
Allah Almighty says (what means): {Hajj is [during] well-known months, so whoever has made Hajj obligatory upon himself therein [by entering the state of ihram (state of ritual consecration)], there is [to be for him] no sexual relations and no disobedience and no disputing during Hajj.} [Quran 2: 197]
The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “Whoever performs a Hajj during which he neither commits sexual intercourse nor disobedience will return as sinless as a newborn on the day that his mother delivered him.” [Al-Bukhari]
Imam Al-Ghazaali, may Allah have mercy on him, mentioned that from the etiquettes of Hajj is that one should treat his companions kindly. The leader should gently treat those who are with him and do what is beneficial for them. The travelers should say good words to each other, provide food, and show the best morals.
Addressing His beloved, Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) Allah Almighty says (what means) concerning zakah: {Take [O, Muhammad] from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase, and invoke [Allah’s blessings] upon them. Indeed, your invocations are reassurance for them. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.} [Quran 9: 103]
The sublime purpose and supreme request is purifying the self and refining the soul and the senses. For the pillars of Islam to be accepted, it is a prerequisite that the Muslim fears Allah, wishes all goodness for the servants of Allah, and avoids harming his fellow Muslims in any way. There are many of those who pray and receive no benefit of their prayer; rather, they obtain nothing but tiredness since their prayer does not forbid them from doing evil and committing misdeeds.
The best and most beloved righteous deeds:
In a marfoo‘ hadith that was narrated by ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, it was mentioned that: “The best deed is to make a believer happy by clothing him (to cover his ‘awrah), satisfying his hunger or fulfilling his need.” [At-Tabarani]
It was also narrated on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them, that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “The most beloved deed to Allah Almighty, next to the obligatory acts of worship, is to make a Muslim happy.” [At-Tabarani]
It was narrated on the authority of Al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali, may Allah be pleased with them, that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “One of the causes of winning the forgiveness (of Allah) is to make your Muslim brother happy.” [At-Tabarani]
Reflecting on these hadiths, one realizes that the common idea is to highlight the moral aspect, which aims at the unity of Muslims and at discarding whatever leads to dispute and rancor. The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) considered it one of the best forms of jihad that a Muslim spares the people his evil. It was narrated on the authority of Abu Sa‘eed Al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, that a man came to the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) and said: “O Messenger of Allah! Who is the best of mankind?” The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) replied: “A believer who performs jihad with his life and property for the sake of Allah.” “Who is next?” the enquirer asked again. The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “It is he who saves the people from his evil.” [Al-Bukhari, Muslim, and Al-Hakim (with slight differences in wording)]
It is as if Allah, the Creator, has put this slogan for the Muslims in order for them to be guided therewith in their transactions. It is my advice to you to fear Allah regarding your beloved brothers in religion and creed.
Piety of hearts:
Hajj is one of the greatest rituals of the great religion of Islam. Allah Almighty has prescribed it in order to purify His servants from all sins and misdeeds as well as the seduction and filth of the worldly life. The obligation of Hajj is in fact a response to a great and wise divine call. Allah Almighty says (what means): {And proclaim to the people the Hajj [pilgrimage]; they will come to you on foot and on every lean camel; they will come from every distant pass.} [Quran 22: 27] This call has to be honored and respected. Allah Almighty says (what means): {That [is so]. And whoever honors the symbols of Allah—indeed, it is from the piety of hearts.} [Quran 22: 32]
Reflecting on the verses, one observes that piety and purification of the soul is the most important relation between all acts of worship.
We should know that seeking what is good and avoiding what is evil is the supreme purpose and requirement. When it is achieved, the wounds resulting from disputes will heal, all Muslims will be united like the most pious person’s heart, the old will be kind to the young, the rich will be kind to the poor, and the strong will be kind to the weak. Only with this will Islam become strong, its flag will become high, and nothing will be above it.
There is no disputing in Hajj:
An aspect of honoring this great obligation is to perform it as Allah Almighty wants, hoping that He will accept it. Also, one is required to avoid whatever renders it invalid or makes its reward imperfect. Allah Almighty says (what means): {Hajj is [during] well-known months, so whoever has made Hajj obligatory upon himself therein [by entering the state of ihram (ritual state of consecration)], there is [to be for him] no sexual relations and no disobedience and no disputing during Hajj.} [Quran 2: 197]
There is no disputing either during or after the Hajj. The Muslim enjoys a pure soul and heart and likes for his fellow Muslim whatever he likes for himself. Moreover, he grieves when his Muslim brother is hurt, even because of a thorn, or is afflicted with a disaster. On the other hand, he is prone to seek revenge, abuse the honor of his brother, lie to him, and deceive him. Astonishingly, you see some Muslims who are very modest in words and deeds but when one of them is tried, he proves that he is very far from faith and the fear of Allah. He forgets that Muslims, and all other people, will return to Allah, the Creator, the Supreme Judge and the Ever-Just, and nothing is hidden in the earth or in the heavens from Him.
The Muslim, whether he is a pilgrim or not, should avoid the sins of backbiting, tale bearing, telling lies, cheating, deceiving, arguing, disputing, and quarrelling. Allah Almighty forbids that a Muslim is violated in any way, for this is likely to raise evil and plant enmity and hatred among Muslims. Qataadah, may Allah have mercy on him, said: “The righteous deed is greater in reward during the sacred months, and disobedience is greater in sin during these months as well; even though disobedience is grave and hideous at all times.”
The obligation performed once in a lifetime—Hajj, which is performed during numbered days—is a test for the Muslims. Will they be patient to avoid evil during and after Hajj? Whoever has a good soul and a truthful intention, Allah will help him, strengthen his morale, and boost his determination. Allah Almighty says (what means): {And those who strive for Us—We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allah is with the doers of good.} [Quran 29: 69]
All acts of worship, whether they are daily or annual, constitute a school. Hajj is the obligation required once in a lifetime. It is a school that teaches us how to purify ourselves during and after these numbered days and until we meet Allah Almighty.
We should perform the rituals of Hajj with a spirit of brotherhood, unity, and collaboration. We should act like one body and seek one goal while our hearts are full of the ember of faith that filled the hearts of the Companions of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ). We should follow the example of our righteous predecessors in loving each other, seeking excuses for each other, and treating each other in a way that pleases Allah Almighty.
The best companion:
It was narrated that Buhaym Al-‘Ijli, may Allah have mercy on him, who was a tearful, devoted worshiper, accompanied a rich merchant during the Hajj journey. When it was the day of travel, Buhaym, may Allah have mercy on him, kept weeping until his tears fell to the ground and said: “This journey reminds me of my journey to Allah.” Then he engaged in loud weeping, a matter that annoyed his companion, the merchant. After returning from the Hajj, a man came to visit them. He started with the merchant and asked him about his status with Buhaym, may Allah have mercy on him. The merchant said: “By Allah, I do not think that there is someone like him from among people. Although he is poor and I am rich, he was better than me in spending. Although he is old and I am young, he was better than me in serving. Although he was fasting and I was not, he cooked food for me.” Then the visitor left the merchant and entered upon Buhaym, may Allah have mercy on him, greeted him, and then asked him about the status of the merchant during the journey. Buhaym, may Allah have mercy on him, answered: “He was the best companion. He remembered Allah often, recited the Quran for long periods of time, quickly engaged in weeping, and endured the faults of his companion. May Allah reward him whit what is good for this.”
O Allah, accept our deeds, Hajj, fasting, and voluntary night prayer, and make us righteous servants of Yours…Ameen

Virtues of ‘Umrah Performed in Ramadan

Virtues of ‘Umrah Performed in Ramadan

Ibn ‘Abbaas may Allaah be pleased with him narrated, “When the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) returned after performing Hajj (major pilgrimage), he asked Umm Sinaan Al-Ansaariyyah,Why did you not perform Hajj?’ She replied, ‘The father of so-and-so [i.e., her husband] had two camels and he went on pilgrimage on one of them, and the second is used for the irrigation of our land.’ The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said [to her]:AnUmrah (minor pilgrimage) in Ramadan is akin to Hajj with me [in terms of reward].’ [Al-Bukhaari and Muslim] According to another narration, he told her: When Ramadan comes, do ‘Umrah as [the reward for] it then is equivalent to Hajj.”

Likewise, it was reported by Umm Ma‘qil may Allaah be pleased with her that the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ), said to her, “PerformUmrah in Ramadan, as it is equal to Hajj.‎[Abu Daawood] Similar Hadeeths were also narrated on the authority of Jaabir, Anas, Abu Hurayrah and Wahb ibn Khanbash may Allaah be pleased with them all.

Ibn Battaal may Allaah have mercy upon him commented on the aforementioned Hadeeths, saying:
The sentence that ‘Umrah “then is equivalent to Hajj, proves that the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ), was actually encouraging her to perform a voluntary Hajj, as the whole Ummah (Muslim nation) has unanimously agreed that the Umrah can never be a substitute for the obligatory Hajj. Moreover, what he, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ), meant is that they are like each other in reward, but virtues cannot truly be perceived through analogy; and Allaah The Almighty bestows His Bounty upon whom He Wills.

Benefits and rulings [derived from these Hadeeths]:
1-    The mercy and bounty bestowed by Allaah The Almighty upon His slaves is great, as He granted them huge rewards in return for small good deeds; so, we praise Him abundantly for that.
2-    The Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ), was keen on ensuring the welfare of his Ummah and would ask after those under his rule. Just as he was the sincerest confidant to all people, any slave whom Allaah The Almighty puts in charge of subjects should treat them leniently, advise them, check on their conditions and serve their worldly and religious benefits.
3-    ‘Umrah done during the month of Ramadan cannot be a substitute for the obligatory Hajj, i.e., they are equal in reward, but the former does not replace the latter as a fulfillment of the obligation that is unanimously agreed upon by the scholars.
4-    The reward of good deeds increases in proportion to the virtue of the time they are performed in, as well as one’s heartfelt devotion and dedication.
5-    This Hadeeth is similar to the narration that says, “The Chapter Al-Ikhlaas (Purification) equals one third of the Quran”; it indicates that it is equivalent in terms of the reward of recitation, not that reciting it could, or should, substitute actually reciting [that much or] the whole of the Quran.
6-    The ‘Umrah here is considered equal to the Hajj in reward, when it is performed during the month of Ramadan, which is a great season for good deeds. Hence, whoever performs it then, enjoys the virtue of the place [i.e., the Sacred Mosque in Makkah] and time [i.e., Ramadan]; this is also the case with one who performs Hajj, as he is also in the same holy place and in a blessed time [i.e., months of Hajj].
In addition, doing ‘Umrah in the month of Ramadan ‎is more difficult. That is because one may be fasting while performing it or break his fast due to the traveling involved, and then have to make up for it. This is not the case when one performs Umrah during any other month. The Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ), said to ‘Aa‘ishah may Allaah be pleased with her once, when he ordered her to perform ‘Umrah, “It [i.e., its reward] is according to your effort”, or, as per another narration, “according to your expenditure.”[Muslim]
7-    This great reward is granted to whoever performs the ‘Umrah during the month of Ramadan, even if he [or she] returns immediately thereafter and does not prolong his [or her] stay in Makkah.
8-    These Hadeeths do not mean that it is recommended for one to perform Umrah many times in the month of Ramadan or in a single day of it. This practice, which has become common today, differs from the Sunnah and traditions of the honorable Companions may Allaah be pleased with them as it was not reported that any of them used to perform many ‘Umrahs during the same journey to Makkah.
9-    Whoever performs ‘Umrah in Ramadan and intends to stay at the Holy Mosque during the whole month or its last ten nights, should guard himself against committing any prohibition, because evil deeds are more sacrilegious in Makkah than in any other place, not to mention, during the month of Ramadan.
10-    Whoever takes his family to stay at the Holy Mosque during the month of Ramadan, should take care that they, too, do not fall into committing any forbidden act; otherwise, he may return with sins that exceed the reward he came to earn, due to his negligence towards his wife and children.
11-    If one entered the state of Ihraam (ritual consecration) with the intention of performing Umrah and reached Makkah while fasting, he has the choice of either breaking his fast to be able to do it immediately or waiting to do it until after sunset. It is better for him to break his fast during the daytime and perform ‘Umrah upon arrival, since doing ‘Umrah right after reaching Makkah, is what the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ), did.

Ramadan Prayers (Prayer to Seek Pardon from Sin)

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, marks a period of fasting and deep reflection for Muslims worldwide.
Since the Islamic calendar is lunar, the fasting for Ramadan will start from either 17 or 18 June, based on when the moon is sighted.
In the 30-day period, all Muslims abstain from having food and drinks starting from sunrise to sunset. During the period of fasting, Muslims also tend to abstain from smoking and sexual activities.
After the fasting period, on the next new moon day, Muslims will celebrate the end of Ramadan with a day-long celebration known as Eid-ul Fitr around 17 July.

Ramadan is also a season of prayer. Here are the top 10 prayers to help the believers feel closer to God.

Prayer for Forgiveness

Observant Muslims see Ramadan as a time for seeking forgiveness from God for all their sins and transgressions. Teachings in The Quran and in The Hadiths (sayings of Prophet Muhammad) clearly state that during the period of Ramadan, the sins of believers who engage in sincere worship and repentance will be forgiven.
Here is a prayer by Abdullah-ibn Amar, a companion of Prophet Muhammad:
“Allahumma inni as’aluka birahmatika al-lati wasi’at kulli shay’in an taghfira li.” [Oh Allah, I ask You by Your mercy which envelopes all things, that You forgive me.]

Special Prayers

The Tarawih prayers are a special type of prayer, performed in cycles of movement (standing, bowing, prostrating, sitting). During Ramadan, attending Tarawih prayers is the best way to grow in closeness to God.

Prayers of Zikr (Dhikr)

Zikr, or prayers recited over and over again in the remembrance of God, is an integral part of a pious Muslims’ life. The Zikr prayers are a great way to connect with God while doing any mundane chores of daily life such as driving or while in the kitchen.
Repeating simple expressions such as Subhan’allah [Glorious is God], Alhamdulillah [Thanks be to God], Astaghfirullah [I seek forgiveness of God] and Allahu Akbar [God is the Greatest] can make oneself aware about the greatness of God.

Prayer of Mercy

Ramadan is considered auspicious that Muslims believe that any man, who seeks God with a pure heart, his prayer will be heard.
Reciting a simple prayer such as: “Rabbigh-fir war hum wa anta khair ur rahimeen.” [Oh my Lord and Sustainer, please forgive me and be merciful to me. You are the best amongst those who show mercy] can draw one closer to his Maker.

In the second 10 days of Ramadan, a prayer, which is from the Quran, was recommended by the Prophet Muhammad to be recited for seeking God’s blessing and forgiveness of sins.

Prayer of Repentance

Prophet Muhammad has particularly mentioned about this prayer, which is to be recited during the last 10 days of Ramadan as much as possible.
“Astaghfirullaha rabbi min kulli zambin wa atabu ilaih.” [I seek forgiveness of all my sins from Allah who is my lord and sustainer and I return back in repentance to him alone.]

Prayers on Laylat al-Qadr

Laylat al-Qadr, in Islamic belief, is the night when the first verses of the Quran were revealed.
As per Islamic belief, whoever prays by heart “Laa ilaha il-lal lahu Muhammadur Rasulullah” [There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger] will be forgiven for all their sins.
